Interesting, intriguing, and unignorably enjoyable few days....I am NOT talking about it here, and 'you' know why (still adding bricks, by the way...). All the rest of you, I'm sorry. I write this blog for me, and although I'm so glad you stop by to read it, I feel like sometimes there are things I need to reference as milestones or important features for myself that just don't need to be known by anyone else.

Gee, now that THAT rant is done...

The lovely Jen Shea has once again graced the province with her presence, and now that my summer line up is complete (except for my few lovelies in halifax..sniff sniff sniff), the fun is about to begin. George Street festival starts tommorrow!!! WOOOHOOOO!!! Me, my girls, a bottle of sour puss and some Mary Brown's Fried Chicken...ahhhh yeah.

In other news, still listening to lots of live music downtown (going to CGTG's in an hour actually), but also working on completely re-doing my room. It's time for the pink walls to go. That's right. I am no longer 7. *sigh* Will keep you updated on this -- today I spent hours slowly peeling a border off the walls. *double sigh*

That's all from here for now. Until next time, keep your sticks on the proverbial ice.

Hmm..another random poem/thought I just found (not mine this time...dunno where it came from). It's about friendship:

"Friendship is the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person -- having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words but pouring all right out just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful, friendly hand will take and sift them; keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of comfort, blow the rest away."

Having a good friend is having a listening ear and a forgiving heart always at your side. They will call you on your faults, forgive your weaknesses, and strengthen you enough to carry on when you don't remember how. Never underestimate the power of a friend's ability to understand.

Oh my goodness.
I am in the process of cleaning out my entire room (MAJOR decorating going on over here...anything to avoid writing a dissertation, eh?) and came across an old folder of stuff I kept from first year at Mount Allison University. I just found this poem I wrote...I remember hanging out with a few of my girlfriends this one day, complaining about the boys we liked who didn't like us back, watching the boys play football below my window and generally just laughing and being foolish. And this poem was my contribution (just wanted to record it for posterity...it's just plain stupid.haha).

There was a guy on whom I doted,
unfortunately he never noticed.
"Dense as bricks," that's what I say,
"and they will always be that way."

Dropping hints just never works,
and they usually turn out to be big jerks.
If only they weren't oh-so-cute,
we'd more easily be able to give them the boot.

Boys, boys, boys, they drive me nuts,
but then again I'm quite the putz.
I'm almost out there on the brink,
I think I need to go have a drink.

hahahahaha...watch out billy shakespeare!! :)

My mind keeps jumping since I've been home. I focus on one goal, then the smallest thing can change it to focus on another, then back again, then to return to the second...back and forth. I feel like I'm playing mental pingpong.
I suppose I shouldn't call it 'goals'. It's not a goal...just a thought process that once started tends to invade my brain and take over everything until something happens to turn its attention to the other 'goal'. Gotta stop this soon. It's beginning to seep out of my brain and into my body cavity, and that's not good. Leaky toxic thoughts are not what I want.

Cryptic post, I know. But that was the point.

Wow.
Am home.
Am so happy, my face is spliting from all the smiling.
Have been spending the past week watching tons of live music shows, talking with my girls, *writing a dissertation*, and basically just enjoying being here.
Sat on the beach and watched the ocean for a long time yesterday. Rejuvenation.

Oh, I also managed to burn a patch of skin off my chin last night by eating pizza. Very bright I am.

Had an AMAZINGLY fun night last night. Went to Pizza Express (much more classy than the name would suggest, byt he way...) where Hammy and I watched Annie harrass and confuse our waitor with much skill and charm.
Then off for a drink at Checkers the sports bar, then to the Corridor (yay for finally going into a bar I've said all I year I wanted to go into), then lining up in a line for a club none of us really wanted to go into, and so back to Hamster's for a night of complete debachery with his roomie, complete with tent, but no tent poles.
Today, am in too much frontal lobe pain to continue writing, but was much, much fun.

Two rather unfortunate starts to the day so far:
1. woke up to a jack hammer hammering away under my window. At 6am. urrrrgh
2. got whistled at by a fat bald man driving a big truck while waiting at a light. urrrrgh...puke.

Although, it's sunny and warm today, so I really can't complain. It's hard to complain when it's BEAUTIFUL outside. Even if you do have to spend the day in the library. :)

Although, as the great Annie always says, "The one sure thing about life is that there will always be something to complain about."

YOU BIG STUPID PASTRY!!!
Oh, look at my mutant children!
I am puss...in BOOTS!!
...quotes from Shrek 2 which I saw last night. Freakin' HILLARIOUS. Go see it. Now.

For some reason, a very embarrassing episode in my past just popped into my head. It concerned a fellow I had a crush on from afar in 4th year university, who I affectionatly called BLT, as I didn't know his name, and the first time we ever talked was in the cafe line up when I asked him what he thought about the BLT sandwiches there. Every conversation we had after that concerned food, especially BLTs, and even led me once, in a crazy wish to have SOMETHING to say to him at the pub, to tap him on the back and sputter, "Hey, I tried the BLT the other day..you're right, it was good!" before realizing what a dink I was, and skampering away.
Thinking back to this little episode is giving me such a huge laugh right now.
Man, I'm so happy that I've acted like an idiot sometimes. Gives you moments like these, when you could laugh outloud all by yourself.
How boring life would be if we never did anything stupid.

I've had an absolutely stunning few days. I'm so tired right now that there's no way to give them proper credit in this entry, but I'll do my best. Just add your own enthusiasm (I think I lost all energy after calling dave late last night and shouting to him all about this fantastic concert I went to while he was suffering through a horrible migraine...thanks for not hanging up on me, man. :))

SO:
Wednesday, spent the day in London with Annie and Phil. Lucky for us, it was the day of the TUBE STRIKE, so we had to walk everywhere, but luckily Annie has superb knowledge of the public washroom system, so we were fine. We spent a few hours in the Tower of London, hearing gruesome tales of beheadings and stalking a Kiwi...very fun. :) The tea room has great coffee...oh, and the crown jewels are amazing...but I liked the torture exhibit the best. I know, I'm weird.
Wednesday night we went to see THE JERRY SPRINGER OPERA. Holy crap. It was SOOO weird. But I loved it. It was a great commentary on why people go on the show, and was quite funny and had fantastic singing....(enter muchos enthusiasm here, which I am currently too tired to produce).

Thursday was CANADA DAY!! WOOHOO!! Once again, too tired to fully relate, but went back into London for this HUGE street party. There's this pub, called The Maple Leaf Pub, and it and the street it was on was PACKED with partying Canadians. They closed off the street (kinda like george street festival), and everyone was drinking, and singing Canadian tunes, and drinking CANADIAN BEER. Susan took some great pictures, so hopefully I'll be able to show some of you guys when I come home. I spent the majority of my night sitting on a ledge against the wall, wearing canadian-flag ear-thingys on my head, belting out the lyrics to Barenaked Ladies, Bryan Adams and Spirit of the West songs, and having my picture taken. It was AWESOME. The night ended with Susan and I running gaily through the streets of London belting Newfoundland Folk Songs and searching madly for a Kebab van. We found Burger King instead in Victoria Station, and then rode home on the bus, during which ride I was entertained by Sam's sick jokes while everyone else slept. Was wonderful, wonderful canada day. :)

Friday, I watched lots of Wimbleton, and went out with some friends at night. Had an absolutely FABULOUS time, but won't bore you with the details. Except to say it was the first time I had tried Red Bull. Taurine is NOT made from bull testicles, but it's still damn good.

Now, SATURDAY. I watched more Wimbleton, and then Hamster, god bless him, called up Annie and asked if we wanted to go see a concert at Bleinham Palace with him that night (his friends had cancelled). I CANNOT thank him enough. We sat outdoors in the Great Court, as the sun sank into a purple sky, listening to the London Symphony Orchestra (one of the greatest orchestras in the world, hands down) play movie soundtracks, many of which were commissioned especially for them. They finished with the Star Wars theme, and the trumpeter who was in the original recording back in the 1970s is STILL playing with them, so I say and heard him play -- the same dude in the movies. Now tell me that isn't freakin' cool. Now, the SECOND half of the show, featured the RAT PACK. That's right, Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin. Of course, before you say it, NO, not the real guys...that would involve some serious grave digging and seance workings, but I swear, these guys were the closest to the real thing that could exist. As far as I am concerned, I saw Frank Sinatra sing last night. Dancing in the aisles with Annie and Hamster to New York, New York, singing at the top of our lungs...one of the happiest nights I have spent in Oxford, hands down. Thanks Hamster...you seriously rock the world. :)
OH! And a bloke PROPOSED to his wife at the concert too!! Dean Martin announced it, and the whole audience (all 5000 of us or whatever) went crazy cheering and yelling and clapping...it was SO romantic. I almost cried. :)
And today I've spent the whole day at the university club, watching the Wimbleton tennis mens final and then the final in the Euro 2004 football. I was cheering for Roddick with the tennis, and it's not just because I have a mega crush on him. So his last girlfriend was Mandy Moore. So what. Just because I'm not a beautiful, rich, mega pop star.....oh shit. Oh well. It was a nice dream while it lasted.
And for Euro 2004...I have to hand it too the Greeks. Who woulda thought?? Not this girl!! Now, if only they can get a roof built on that damn stadium...

Ah. Now I feel better. Now we're all up to scratch.
Time to go to bed.
Again, Hamster, you rock the world. Seriously. :)
Goodnight!
